Did God create Evil?

I have not been able to get a good answer from anyone! If God created EVERYTHING then did he create evil? Satan is his son, so did he create him? Or is God the creator of the darkness AND the light? did he create it so that we would have to have opposition, so that we could choose what we liked best? And if he didn't create it then who did? Couldn't God wipe it out? I mean he IS GOD, RIGHT? I asked my home teacher and he didn't know, so he is checking into it for me! I would really like to hear your comments!

I don't know if you have got any answers but I just found your blog and thought I would give my two sense on the concept. Did god create "evil" : I think it is first important to understand what evil is for me evil is disobedience to gods commandments. So in essence god created the ability to be evil by insisting on certain principles and commandments. But in order to be evil or have evil it requires a "choice" by a individual. Evil only becomes evil when an individual chooses to disobey gods commandments ie Free agency. To me that is why certain sins or choices are worse then others. For instance next to the sin against the Holy Ghost, murder is the worst thing you can commit because you are effectively taking away someone's free agency (ie like satan tried to do in the pre-exsistance). The next logical question to me then is why does God allow people to make "evil" or wrong choices. A good discussion on this is found in the book of mormon when Alma and amulek are forced to watch people who where converted to the gospel burn in a fire by individuals making an evil choice. In response to amuleks plea (his wife and children where most likely cast into the fire) to stretch forth there hands and use the priesthood to stop the deaths, Alma response was that God suffereth it so that the demands of justice could then be enforced. It would not be enough in the judgement for God to say to those men/woman involved that they were to be punished because they had the intent of killing, the actual deed must have been performed in order for the demands of justice to be met and for the punishment to be just. This view is only tolerable when viewed on the eternal scale scale, for me the veil of forget-fullness not only is about knowledge but also about are ability to understand eternity. Time is a concept given us as part of our "test" If we had a true understanding of eternity we would never choose evil. Same as trying to convince a child to take medicine that taste gross that will prevent a life threatening illness. If a child truly understood the implications they would take the medicine. just my thoughts on the matter.
Love ya
